About 9 Creative Lives Studio

Welcome to 9 Creative Lives Studio! From Sept 2020 – Oct 2025, we offered poetry writing and public speaking classes to school-aged students and adults. Although the studio is now closing its doors in its current form and no longer offering live classes, years of class material is being recorded and will be available by January 2027.

This independent studio was founded by teacher, writer, and performer Christine Bissonnette with the goal of turning on its head the idea that there’s a ‘proper’ way to write or public speak, and to support students to allow their imagination, life experience, and insight to shine through in a genuine way — whether they’re approaching a blank page, or stepping onto a stage to speak.

All classes and programs offered through this studio featured the delights of writing, speaking, and reading poetry at their centre.

“A mind that is lively and inquiring, compassionate, curious, angry, full of music, full of feeling, is a mind full of possible poetry.” – Mary Oliver, A Poetry Handbook
