Tomorrow is a big day for me. I have 3 auditions: one for a lead in a feature film, one for Juliet (‘the’ Juliet from “Romeo and Juliet”), and one for a play in the fringe festival. I’ve been preparing for the last week and a half, and I’m excited and ready to get into the audition room and show off my hard work. Tomorrow night I will definitely deserve a treat.

I’ve recently started asking myself a question at the start of each week, and I’ve noticed a big difference in my progress since incorporating this habit. What’s the question you ask?

In what way will my life be different at the end of this week?

This question reminds me that my many scheduled tasks and appointments are there with the purpose of moving me forward. I have an addiction to work (I think they call it being a workaholic… yeah, guilty!), and sometimes I forget that there is a reason I’m doing the work. It’s not just about marking things ‘done’ on my to-do list, it’s about maintaining a focus on quality. Quality not quantity – you’ve heard the saying many times, but it really is important.

Asking myself this question at the start of the week fills me with excitement, because it reminds of the huge potential for growth that every day holds. Every day does not have to be just like the other. Change is always possible, but I think many of us (myself included) need to remind ourselves of this fact. There is a danger of ‘stopping’ because you’re making enough money. Actually, I think money may be one of the biggest culprits in this ‘stuck phase.’ Comfort and fear are bred of money. When we’re comfortable we don’t stretch, and when we’re afraid we don’t take the next step. In my life I have made it my mission to always be uncomfortable and scared stupid. I joke a little, but at the same time…

You too can make the decision to grow. Ask yourself this question at the start of this next week, or comment below.

In what way will your life be different one week from now? In what way do you commit to grow?

Good luck with your auditions! Am excited for you. Love the idea of being a little scared and uncomfortable all the time – change can only happen if you are open to it.
