Well, another week has come and gone. Welcome to the second weekly wrap up. Last week I combined my wrap up with my pick of the week, but I think I’m going to start separating them. I’ll release my pick for this week early tomorrow morning. It will just make it a little bit easier to organize it all on my blog.

My Weekly Wrap-up: August 4-10

My Week in 1 Word

Cold

My Week in 100 Words or Less

I started a 30 day cold shower challenge on Sunday (Impossiblehq). Although initially terrifyingly cold, I pulled through the doubt and made it to day 7. I know the idea of this challenge sounds terrifying, but trust me, it’s worth the 5 minutes of discomfort a day.

This week I also read nearly all of “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin. It’s a hard book to put down, and I have gathered ALL SORTS of great ideas. Yesterday I spent 5 hours deleting over 1000 e-mails from my gmail inbox. Feeling light and ready for the week ahead.

Biggest Challenge

I’ve been really heavy into voice work recently, and freeing up my voice has been a major challenge this last week. It’s bringing up all sorts of emotional stuff. This week in class, I discovered that I have a bigger voice then I ever thought possible.  The problem: the moment I found it, it disappeared again… I couldn’t get it back. My voice went back to feeling stuck, and my vocal coach and I sort of looked at one another in disbelief. Where did that voice come from? Anyone ever engaged in serious vocal training? Can you relate.  The voice is one WEIRD instrument. Feeling stumped.

Biggest Success

Getting through my first week of cold showers. It was cold, but I’m feeling pretty accomplished. Only 23 days to go. That sounds like a lot, but I’m on a bit of a roll now and it shouldn’t be hard to keep it up. In a way, it’s probably one of the easiest challenges I’ve ever done. I mean, completing 90 days of P90X took effort. This is only 1/3 of the time, and all I have to do is make the decision to turn the water to cold.  It’s also pretty neat how you can normalize even the most un-normal (is that a word) of routines. Do you know what this realization tells me? It tells me that if I can make cold showers normal, then making success normal should be a piece of cake.

Affirmation for the Week Ahead

Life is meant to be enjoyed, and it’s okay to take some time out to enjoy what you’ve worked so hard to create for yourself. Laugh everyday, and don’t be afraid of fear. Everyone’s afraid. Make the decision to act, and know that you’re headed in the right direction.

What was your greatest success this week?
