E Squared by Pam Grout — The Experiments
The following 9 experiments are all about rewiring you brain and retraining your mind to see the world in a different way. It’s an interesting if not slightly magical study. I used to perform magic with my best friend at birthday parties when I was a kid (okay, we performed laughably bad but well-intentioned magic at our sibling’s birthdays), so I’m definitely keen on a good magic trick and these 9 experiments have me intrigued.
The book is called “E-Squared: 9 Energy Experiments for Proving Your Thoughts Create Your Reality” by Pam Grout. The author’s voice is captivating and truly draws you into her hilarious, slightly sarcastic and refreshingly truthful world – because as it turns out, we each receive the world in a very different way.
“Scientists now know the brain receives 400 billion bits of information each second. [What do we do with this information? We screen it.] What we choose to take in is only one-half of one-millionth of a percent of what’s out there… Our brains continually sift through the possibilities and pick which bits of information to “see” and believe. We see, feel, taste, touch, and smell not the real world, but a drastically condensed version of the world, a version our brains literally concoct. The rest zooms by without recognition.”

With each experiment I will be providing a short summery of the chapter, and the results of the experiment for me. If you’d like to do these experiments yourself (and you should), most of them take less than 48 hours, which is pretty awesome.
One of the most challenging parts of conducting these experiments has been staying motivated, and not allowing my mind the opportunity to whisper words like “impossible” into my far too open ears.
“We live in a world that worships limitations” – Tama Kieves, author of This Time I Dance! (excerpt)
The Experiments Go As Follows:

I’ll finish this introduction with the following quote:
“Currently, our minds are devoted to things we do not want. Our positive intentions occupy but a tiny sliver of our minds. The rest is focused on the problems we hope the intentions will eliminate… The reason 99.9 percent of your mind is still devoted to things you don’t want is because that’s the world’s default setting, what it defines as normal.”

Are you ready to redefine normal with me?
