For the last week I’ve been feeling a little bit under the weather. I have a cold that just won’t quit. This weekend I gave myself an opportunity to sit back and relax. I did absolutely nothing on Sunday but slept, watched interviews with actors, watched the halftime show of the Super Bowl (which was awesome) and watched a mindless chick flick. Weirdly, despite being in a slightly delusional state, I had an excellent day.
When I woke up this morning feeling clear-headed and like myself, I’m embarrassed to admit that I sort of missed the loopy and carefree version of myself that came to hang out while I was sick. For the day I was able to put down any of my commitments guilt-free and just take care of myself. It felt good.
A friend recently told me about Louise Hay’s book “You Can Heal Your Life.” In this book, she provides the metaphysical reason for every illness under the sun, and an affirmation to heal yourself. You can view a breakdown here.
I looked up “Cold” and this is what is came up with:
- Too much going on at once. Mental confusion and disorder.
- Affirmation: I allow my mind to relax and be at peace. Clarity and harmony are within me and all around me.
Synchronistically, I just stumbled upon Louise Hay’s website where she provides a daily affirmation. Today’s affirmation:
“Today, I give myself permission to do absolutely nothing”
Too much going on at once? Lately I have certainly been feeling over-extended and so I have decided to put down a few things and to make some more room for self-care. Perhaps a commitment to taking one day a week (or every two weeks) to “do absolutely nothing” wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Do any of Louise Hay’s sickness definitions resonate with you? Are you also feeling over-extended?
* As I have been sick all week, I have had to post-phone this week’s E-Squared post. I will be back on schedule next Monday.
