I wrote a poem about love, and I’d like to share it with you.
After writing ‘Between the Lines‘, I was fairly nervous to write another poem. That first one had happened so effortlessly. The entire process had been magical. I had sat down, and all of the ideas I’d been working with over the last several years had sort of collided in a beautiful mess on my paper. I had received so much incredible feedback on this first poem, that I was afraid of falling short with poem number two. But I have a compulsion to write that I can’t ignore, and so I did write another one. This actually isn’t it.
My first attempt had been another love poem. None of the lines from this first one (which was, being honest with myself, a bit effortful. And what I mean by that is… it was trying very hard to be clever) made it into my second attempt (the one below). Maybe that’s because what I think about love has changed. Every time I sit down to write, I do so with the intention of answering a question. My question for this one was: can you freeze love? If both participants in love are always moving, how do you capture what’s happening between them in a name. Is it even possible?
I hope you enjoy: ‘On Falling: Some Safety Considerations.’
I’ve published this poem on Indi.com. There’s currently just 2 days in the contest. I’m in third place as of writing this blog post. If this poem resonated with you, please give the post where I shared it a like on my Facebook page (and maybe a comment). That’s literally all you have to do to help me.
Have a fantastic weekend!!
