This week I have been thinking a lot about vibrations. We each put out a frequency, and we attract people and events into our lives that are on the same frequency as we are. Right now I have run into some issues at work, and I may have to give my two weeks notice in the next couple of days. The environment has simply become too toxic to work in. Thursday I thought out loud (in the presence of two of my close friends) “how could I have attracted this into my life?” Katie responded very wisely by saying: “maybe you’ve attracted this into your life, because it is time for you to move on to something bigger and better.” She then asked me “what would you like to do as a part time job?” I thought only for a moment, and then something deep inside of me blurted out: “editor.” I have no idea where this came from. It just sort of exploded out of my mouth, and I was initially shocked, and then determined. Later I stepped back and decided I should be more realistic, and maybe try and get a job at a restaurant again, then just today I thought “NO!” This event at my work did not happen so that I could continue at the same vibration I’m at now. This happened because it’ time to do something completely outside of my comfort zone, and try and do something that (right now) I feel is impossible. How can I be an editor part time and support myself, while also going through school? Ultimately I would like something that I can work from home and do. Something where I can create my own hours.
I know that there are stacks of local magazines at the library, maybe I’ll have to make a trip down there tomorrow and leaf through the selection. As I search for a new job I need to think win/win. I’m looking for an opportunity where both myself and my employer win. I win because I get to pursue an interest while working towards my acting ambitions. My employer wins because I’m an excellent writer, and I know that I would be an excellent editor as well- but lets not limit myself to just an editor. What if I said that in the next 3 weeks I am going to find a part-time job that pays me a minimum of $1500 a month in the publishing industry. I think that the fact that I have this blog is a great start. By speaking to all of you wonderful people, I feel as though I’ve developed a voice. This blog really has been huge for my growth, and now I sincerely feel like I have something to say.
Just a couple of hours ago, I went on to Kyle Cease’s facebook page and saw something that he had posted:
I don’t know anyone who focused on what they wanted, worked on it daily, and didn’t achieve it.
The comments below this statement were filled with pessimism and doubt. “This isn’t true, I know people who have worked hard and haven’t made it…” These are the comments that I saw, and it sunk my heart. I suddenly felt consumed with passion for my beliefs and wrote the following comment:
You create your own luck. If you put several ticking clocks with pendulums that initially tick at different times in a room, in a few days those pendulums will become synchronized. We attract people and events on the same vibration as ours into our lives, because vibrations come into synch together. There is no such thing as chance or as coincidence. I am not saying this as someone who is wildly successful. I am saying this as a struggling actress, but I am not afraid because I know that I have the power to create my future. The first step is to believe.
Your runs outside along the ocean (HIGH VIBE) and trees (HIGH VIBE) will do a lot but don’t wear ear buds let the natural sounds get you going – it’s amazing what we miss when we’re ignoring the symphony in front of us for the droning in our ears 🙂 Also MUSIC – also SNUGGLING – smiling at yourself naked in the mirror – sitting in front of your vision board five minutes every day – I’ll let you know as I think of more – oh yeah anything child-like like finger painting – sand-castle building – rolling down a hill that’s gonna press all the JOY buttons in one go – plus get your OUT of your comfort zone as you try to justify to the world why you a grown rational woman is rolling down a hill 🙂 See you Thursday girl – can’t wait for big updates xo
I always listen to my podcasts as I run, but you’re right – taking my ear buds out would probably give me some more time for reflection. Sitting in front of my vision board daily is definitely something that I NEED to start doing. I made it for a reason, and I’m not getting the most out of it at this point. What do I like to do for fun. That’s a question I need to think about. Thanks for the reminder.
Great post as usual, but a thought comes to mind. Stop referring to yourself as a struggling actress! People sometimes even introduce me to others as: “….and this is Linda. She’s a struggling actress.” it makes me crazy! How negative is that?
You are an up and coming actress not a struggling one! :p
You’re absolutely right. I do need to stop referring to myself as a “struggling” actress. Aspiring, upcoming, etc – probably all words to just stay away from. They all talk about the future, and I don’t want to live in the future. It was so nice to finally meet you last night. I would love to get together some time for a coffee if you’re interested.
Hey, Thanks for your post. I was feeling a bit in the low vibe state as well and I thought I’d check you blog to see how you were doing with your 21 day challenge and I’m glad I did. Very encouraging post and glad you are able to turn sad frowns upside down :D.
