I recently read a book about creating mind-maps ( Ultimate Book Of Mind Maps). A mind-map is essentially a way of organizing your ideas, by creating a visual representation of your goals, ambitions, and thoughts. One of the goals that I listed yesterday was to become a group fitness instructor. Today, at the gym, I spoke to one of our personal trainers and asked him if there was a training program that he would recommend. He told me about Inshape Training. He said it was a well-known and respected school, and it’s based right in Vancouver. I looked at the website, and read some reviews and I’ve decided to make Inshape training apart of my future. It will cost me $1,000 dollars to become certified. I will not be spending money I don’t have. This means I need to find a way of making the $1,000 dollars of my own money, so that I can begin doing a side job that I actually enjoy.

You are allowed to love more than one thing. I love acting and fitness. It’s not that crazy. I love the idea of helping people to meet their fitness goals. I am fascinated by the way people can transform their bodies, and I get excited about the mental toughness that is required to push through when it hurts. I spent about an hour and a half after work today drawing the above mind-map. It illustrates everything that will be required for me to be successful as a group fitness instructor, and now that I have this drawing in front of me this ambition feels more real than ever. I’ve created a map that will get me what I want. What better way to make the impossible possible.

Over the next couple of days I am going to devote some time to making a few of these mind-maps for all the different aspects of my life.
I’m going to make one for

  • Acting
  • This website/blog: The Positivity Project
  • Money – How to make more of it?
  • My Life – What would my ideal life look like?
  • Daily Routine – how do I succeed every day?
  • Relationships – with all of the people in my life

Do any of you have an idea for a mind-map?

At work, I mentioned to one of my co-workers that I was wanting to be trained as a Group Fitness Instructor, and her response was “but isn’t it hard? I mean, aren’t there a lot of people trying to do that?” My response “Yes, that’s why you have to be the best at it.”

What’s the point in only sort of trying. Aim to be the best at everything that you do. Always. Maybe this is just my thinking, but I don’t see the point in doing anything else. You only live once – so map out your goals and figure out how you can begin to work towards your dreams.

Making this mind-map has gotten me so excited, and I want to pass this same excitement on to you.
